Robert Abascal

Robert Abascal brings more than 25 years of experience in all aspects of Computer Image Generation (CIG) operation – including database development, integration maintenance and real-time software development – to his leadership role as President and Chief Executive Officer of AVT Simulation. His extensive CIG knowledge and expertise is the result of years of dedication to the integration of simulator subsystems and extensive training in all facets of simulator operation. Most recently, Mr. Abascal has concentrated on the advancements in commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology to develop cost-effective, high fidelity training simulators and software technology in order to rapidly integrate or upgrade existing trainers with little downtime. Mr. Abascal has also performed visual systems engineering and computer programming with high profile aerospace clients such as General Dynamics, Bell Helicopter, Lockheed Martin, and Evans & Sutherland. In addition to his technical achievements, he has written several papers on CIG and published the Image Society Annual Image Generation (IG) Survey document.

Mr. Abascal received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from Purdue University in 1982 and completed advanced coursework at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Yalcin Akin

Dr. Akin is the founder and executive director of Orlando Science Middle/High and Orlando Science Elementary School.

Dr. Akin earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at University of Florida (UF) in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Dr. Akin worked as a Research Associate at the Florida State University (FSU), Physics Department, Tallahassee, FL. He worked in National Science Foundation (NFS) and Department of Energy (DOE) supported projects at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL), Tallahassee, FL for 4 years. Dr. Akin also mentored K-12 teachers, high school and under graduate students under NSF supported Research Experience Programs at the NHMFL. He has been involved in teaching graduate and undergraduate courses at the UF. Dr. Akin has numerous scientific publications and actively involved in Charter Schools in Florida and other states.

He currently serves as the Executive Director of Orlando Science Schools (OSS), in Orlando, Florida since the school has started in operation six years ago. Since the opening, the School has doubled its enrollment and serving around 750 students in K thru 12th grades. The School is one of the best performing school in Orange County and the State of Florida. The School received a “A” grade four years in a row, and made AYP in all subgroups. Under his leadership the School received SACS-CASI accreditation in 2011, and received high performing charter status in 2012. The School’s Science Olympiad team became the State Winner from FL State Science Olympiad. OSS Elementary School has opened in 2012 and also received an “A” school grade from 2013 FCAT. Dr. Akin has completed required governing training requirements. He regularly participates in annual Florida Charter School Conferences. He is a member of Florida Charter School Consortium. He is very actively involved in and volunteered dissemination of best practices and replication of high quality charter schools. He always highlights the importance of STEM education in K-12 school levels as an important building block for students’ future careers.

Stephen Alexander

The original Steve O, Mr. Alexander is a Financial Services Professional for New York Life Insurance Company. In this role, he helps both individuals and companies with their contingency planning, as well as identifying their financial needs. He then determines which financial products can best help them meet their objectives. One of his primary missions is to uncover guaranteed income that his clients can depend on throughout their retirement.

Prior to his current role, he was a Client Service Liaison for Pershing LLC (a BNY Mellon subsidiary), where he focused on assisting Broker-Dealers and Institutional Clients with block trade orders and advanced asset allocations. Before joining Pershing LLC in 2010, Steve worked as a Senior Investment Accountant for BNY Mellon. Before that, he was a founding member of the Trading Analytics Group at Charles Schwab, a team of professionals who educated both retail clients and investment advisors in fundamental and technical analysis.

Steve attended Rollins College, where his studies included Economics and Computer Science. He is currently pursuing both his ChFC and CFP thru the American College. He is a member of the Orlando Chamber of Commerce, the Asian American Chamber of Commerce, Urban League, and Toastmasters. He also serves as Vice President of his local BNI chapter. In his free time, he is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys canoeing the Wekiva River and playing chess.

Tiffany A. Altizer

Tiffany A. Altizer, CPA, is a shareholder and tax manager at Keith Altizer and Company, P.A. She has been in the public accounting profession since 1991 providing services in the areas of income tax consulting, planning and compliance for individuals, estates, trusts, partnerships, corporations and private foundations. Tiffany began her career with the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young. She has been with Keith Altizer and Company since 1997.

Raymond (Rusty) K. Altizer, Jr.

Rusty Altizer, CPA, CVA, ABV, is the Valuation Manager at Keith Altizer and Company, P.A. Andrea Amhazi Otero

Andrea is currently Assistant to Orange County Clerk of Court, Tiffany Moore Russell. Before taking on this role, she worked in Public Relations and Government Affairs for the Political Consulting Firm In Touch Strategies, Inc. She has had the honor of working for the re-election campaigns of Mayor Buddy Dyer and President Obama in 2012. Andrea also has legal assistance experience working for law firms in Central Florida. She immigrated to Orlando, Florida from Brazil. Since living in Orlando, Andrea’s determination has been to work in public service. Foster E. Anthony

Foster Anthony is the President and founder of Stellar Commercial Services, Inc., which provides clients with commercial cleaning services, safety and quality consulting, ISO 9001 and AS 9100 auditing. Foster graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1979 and joined NASA in 1980. After 35 years of faithful service, he recently retired. During his career, he held numerous leadership positions such as Space Shuttle Technical Integration Lead for Safety and Mission Assurance, Deputy Chief for the Materials Science Division at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC), and Technical Integration Manager for the Chief Engineer’s Office. His expertise was called upon to serve as a technical expert on both the space shuttle Challenger and Columbia Accident Investigation teams. Additionally, he developed several technical procedures to enhance manned space flight engineering, quality, reliability, and safety. He received over 30 awards and commendations for his outstanding performance and contributions. Atlantis astronaut Doug Hurley, pilot of the last space shuttle mission, presented him with the esteemed NASA Silver Snoopy Award for outstanding service. This award is presented to less than two percent of the workforce each year. Additionally, he was awarded the prestigious NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal for significant design and innovative technological improvements. He is a proud alumni of Leadership Orlando Class 75.

Sheyla A Asencios

Florida Democratic Party Hispanic Media & Outreach Director, Sheyla Asencios, began taking an active role in the Central Florida community at an early age. Upon immigrating to the United States from Peru, she was raised in Kissimmee, Florida. Beginning early in college and throughout her career she has worked as a reporter, editor, commentator and writer for various media entities including NBC’s Wesh 2 News, The Miami Herald, Orlando Sentinel, Chasqui News and Telemundo. As reporter, she has sought to uncover truth and report on under-represented groups and the Latino community in Osceola and Orange Counties.

Upon graduating the University of Florida, Ms. Asencios began devoting much of her time to public service. She became a Juvenile Drug Court and Teen Court volunteer in Orange, Osceola and Alachua counties and worked as a legal and development assistant at the Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association. Her ability to foster relationships and background in public service, led to the opportunity to become the Orange County Bar Association's youngest staff member by assuming the role of Marketing Manager. It is here where her love for cause marketing and community leadership flourished. She became the program manager of the bar association's community outreach program, Leadership Law, which won the LexisNexis Community and Educational Outreach Award in 2012 and whose program sponsors helped secure proceeds for the OCBA and its sister affiliates the Legal Aid Society of the OCBA and the OCBA Foundation.

In the fall of 2012, Ms. Asencios took an active role in politics, working in The Honorable Darren Soto’s successful campaign for Florida Senator, District 14. She currently works for the Florida Democratic Party as its Central Florida Hispanic Media & Outreach Director where she mobilizes activists, advises and supports state and local elected officials, and assists in political campaigns across the I-4 corridor. She appears as a guest political commentator on Telemundo’s Telenoticias XTRA and the television program Hispanics Speakout TV aired on Bright House Networks. She volunteers for the Legal Aid Society of the OCBA and is an executive committee member of its annual fundraiser the Breakfast of Champions. In November of 2013, Ms. Asencios received Congressional Recognition by Congressman Alan Grayson for her work in public service and with the Hispanic community of Central Florida.

Tom Bacchus

Tom Bacchus is a Senior Vice President in Business Banking and has been a banker in Central Florida for over 30 years. Tom is a Florida native and moved to Central Florida with his family in 1961. He is a graduate of Florida State University, is a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan, and has been an avid runner since he was a teenager.

Tom and his wife Nancy moved to the Lake Eola Heights neighborhood in downtown Orlando in 1994 and have taken great pleasure in restoring their 1924 bungalow. Cathi Balboa

Cathi Balboa is currently the Chief Administrative Officer for the Orange County Clerk of Courts. Over the past 6 years there, she has been a Manager, then Director providing oversight on Strategic Planning, Talent Management, Vendor Relationship Management, and Organizational Development. Mellanie J. Bartlett

Mellanie J. Bartlett is a principal in the marketing and public relations firm of Sweeney & Bartlett Marketing Partners, Inc. Prior to forming Sweeney & Bartlett in 2008, Mellanie served as a legal marketing professional for two prominent Orlando law firms and is one of the original founders of the Orlando Chapter of the Legal Marketing Association. Speaking and writing engagements include serving on the faculty of the Legalworks Marketing Partner Forum, an international conference devoted to law firm client development.

James A. Beckman

James A. Beckman is the first permanent chair of the Department of Legal Studies at the University of Central Florida, where he also holds tenure and the rank of Associate Professor. From 2000-2011, he served as a professor of law at the University of Tampa (UT), serving as an assistant professor of law from 2000-2006 and a tenured associate professor of law from 2006-2011. While at UT, he also served as the director of the UT’s Law & Justice program from 2000-2011, and as the chair of the Department of Government, History and Sociology from 2007-2010. In 2011, Professor Beckman was selected as the chair of the newly founded Department of Legal Studies at UCF. Prior to entering academia, Professor Beckman served as an active duty military lawyer for the Army in the 1990s, serving on the Staff & Faculty of the United States Military Academy at West Point, as well as an active duty assignment at Fort Meade, Maryland. He also served as a litigation attorney for the United States Department of the Treasury in Washington, DC. He has been a licensed and active member of The Florida Bar since 1993.
Professor Beckman holds degrees from the University of Tampa (B.A.), The Ohio State University College of Law (J.D.), and Georgetown University’s Law Center (LL.M. in International & Comparative Law). He has published numerous diverse articles on history and law and is the author of four books (with a fifth book under contract), including serving as the editor of the two-volume work entitled, Affirmative Action, an Encyclopedia (Greenwood Press, 2004), which has been described as “inspired” and a “well designed reference” and is in the collections of more than 850 college and university libraries worldwide (including such places as Harvard University, Yale University, Georgetown, Cambridge and Oxford Universities, and the United States Supreme Court Law Library, among other places). Professor Beckman is passionate about history and loves spending time with his wife, Maria, and their multiple rescue animals.

Chasity Benitez

Chasity Benitez graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2012 with a degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Management. She has actively volunteered for a number of groups, which include the Valencia Volunteers Club, the Baby DJ Program with XL 106.7, New Hope for Kids, Kids Beating Cancer, and Pet Rescue by Judy.

Chasity served as the Notice to Owner Department Researcher in 1999 and gained enough experience to move onto become the Notice to Owner Department Supervisor. She served in her role as a supervisor until 2008 when she became the now instituted Notice to Owner Department Manager.

Florian Boehm

Owner Florian "Flo" Boehm, a native German, has a long professional background from his involvement in a family video and film production company. After graduating college and completing military service in Germany he attended Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, and graduated with perfect attendance and Valedictorian awards.

Kevin Bonnewitz

Kevin Bonnewitz serves as Equal Opportunity Officer for Valencia College. Joyce Boudoin

Joyce has been with the Clerk’s office for five years. Prior to being employed by the Clerk’s office, she worked for Sprint Corporation for 17 years. While at Sprint, she served in various leadership roles, including Operations Manager, Quality Manager and Training Manager. Joyce enjoys leading teams and is passionate about employee development.

Sharon Brandt

Sharon Brandt – A Business Executive with proven sales and service success in the Technology Industry. Gary Brewer

A retired Professional Scouter, Gary Brewer was the Senior Development Director and Director of Learning for Life for the Central Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America, responsible for the development of the council’s endowment and major contributions to enhance the facilities and programs that serve nearly 60,000 youth members in seven Central Florida Counties, as well as Learning for Life, an integrated character education program. He has served in numerous volunteer capacities with the Boy Scouts for more than five decades, including Central Florida Council President, 1997 to 1999 and now a member of the Central Florida Council Executive Board of Directors. An Eagle Scout and lifetime Scouter, Brewer is a former mayor of the City of Winter Park and President & CEO of the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce. A resident of Winter Park for more than 40 years, Brewer arrived in Central Florida in 1973 to open and manage the new Jacobson’s department store on Park Avenue. In 1982, he was elected to the Winter Park City Commission and as Mayor in 1993, serving continuously until 1997, earning the distinction of being the longest serving elected official in the history of Winter Park. Todd A. Bryant

Todd Bryant is a Financial Advisor and founding partner in Signature Wealth Advisors, LLC. He is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and has called Central Florida home since 1996. Markita D. Cooper

Markita D. Cooper is Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and a Professor of Law at the Florida A&M University College of Law in Orlando, Florida. Her administrative responsibilities include curriculum oversight and development, course planning and scheduling, and strategic planning and management of the law school. She teaches torts and advanced courses focused on defamation and privacy law.

A 23 year team member at Universal Orlando, Vivian Geary, CMP is currently an Event Manager for the organization. Nancy T. Grzesik

For the past seven years, Nancy T. Grzesik, CPA, has held the position as Chief Operating/Financial Officer at the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne, Florida. Jerry Henderson

Jerry Henderson is the Federal Security Director (FSD) at Orlando International Airport (MCO).

Prior to arriving at MCO, Mr. Henderson was the FSD at Little Rock International Airport (LIT). He became the first Federal Security Director for the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) transportations security operations in the State of Arkansas in July 2002 and served in that capacity until his selection as the Federal Security Director in Orlando in June 2012.

His responsibilities include enforcement of federal aviation and transportation security laws and regulations at all at Orlando International Airport, Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) and surrounding communities. In November, 2013, Mr. Henderson was recognized as TSA FSD of the Year.

Greg Kainz obtained his degree in finance from the University of Florida in 1990 and later became the President of the Greater Orlando/Winter Park Kiwanis. Beverly Madison

Beverly is the co-owner of several commercial warehouses and industrial properties in south Orlando. Kathleen Palmer is the Chief of Staff for Orange County Public Schools which is the 10th largest school district in the nation. Bruce Phillips

Bruce Phillips is a software developer and business consultant with an emphasis in accounting. He is a true native of Florida, growing up in Bronson, Florida. During his early years Bruce became a die-hard Gator fan and attended most of the University of Florida home football games. Oliver W. “Ollie” Phipps is a University of Central Florida graduate and former U.S. Air Force OSI Special Agent. He has been in the investigation industry for almost 30 years. During his four years with OSI, Ollie served with detachments in Austin, TX, Manila, PI and Cocoa Beach, FL. Commissioner Tiffany Moore Russell is a native of Orlando, Florida. A product of Orange County’s public school system, Commissioner Moore Russell is an alumna of Dr. Phillips High School. Col. David A. Smith

Colonel David Smith is currently serving as the Marine Corps’ Program Manager for Training Systems. Daniel E. Smith, II

Daniel E. Smith II is an attorney whose practice areas include personal injury, social security disability, workers compensation, employment disputes, erisa, USERRA, litigation, and appellate cases. Mr. Smith was born in Chicago, Illinois to a middle class family. His father worked in the factory industry and his mother was in the service industry. Diana Tennis

Diana Tennis has been practicing in Orlando since graduating with honors from UF’s Levin School of Law in 1992. I love my job and in my free time I am also passionate about volunteer work and serve on the boards and organizations listed below. Volunteering for Hospice, giving home-bound patient’s haircuts is some of the most rewarding time I give.

I am a proud mother of two sons, both in the Army the oldest is a Ranger currently on his 4th deployment the youngest is a Human Intelligence Collector.

Dylan Thomas

Dylan Thomas directs the communications and public relations activities of Orange County Public Schools (OCPS), the 11th largest district in the United States. Under his charge are a staff of 31 that manages media relations, public information services, sales and marketing, video production and broadcasting, volunteer and business partner relationships, employee recognition, graphic design, web content and collateral media production.

The Orange County Public Schools Public Relations Department is an annual winner of multiple state and national awards for communication materials and campaigns, including the SUNSPRA 2010 Best of Show Award for its “Sales and Marketing Initiative” as featured on NBC Nightly News in October 2011.

Dylan is the past president of the Sunshine State School Public Relations Association (2010-2012). He is often called on to present to professional organizations about OCPS programs. Among them are the Council of Great City Schools audiences of public relations executives (July 2010), and superintendents and school board members (October 2010, October 2012) on the topics of Sales and Marketing and Leadership Orange, an OCPS community engagement project. He has presented a Public Relations Brand Image program to the Florida Association of School Superintendents Conference (Sept. 2011); Florida School Boards Association Board of Directors Retreat (Sept. 2011) and Florida Association of School Administrators (July 2011). He has also shared his Sales and Marketing and Leadership Orange programs with the Central Florida School Boards Coalition in 2011/12. Finally, Dylan serves as a member of the U.S. Army Central Florida Citizens Advisory Board.

Dylan joined Orange County Public Schools in August of 2004 (between hurricanes Charlie and Frances) after more than two decades with Florida Citrus Sports, a non-profit membership organization that hosts two college football post-season bowl games and other sporting events in Central Florida.

Dylan is a Rollins College graduate, Winter Park resident and fourteen-time marathon finisher.

Jason G. Toll

Jason Toll joined NAI Realvest as Director of the Industrial Services Group in June, 2013. Joshua Truitt works in Technology Transfer at the University of Central Florida’s (UCF) Office of Technology Commercialization, and is an instructor at UCF for the LEAD Scholars Program. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at UCF in the College of Education with an emphasis on Higher Education and Policy Studies. Shelley Warticki

Shelley Warticki is a Development Manager for Junior Achievement of Central Florida (JACF) with the responsibility of bringing new business into the organization. Carole Wright

Carole Wright, Stakeholder Manager has been employed with TSA since August 2002. During her tenure at TSA, Ms. Wright has held several positions including Special Advisor to the Federal Security Director, Deputy Assistant Federal Security Director for screening operations and Human Resources Specialist.
